2016 Beauty Trends

So 2016 has begun (in case you were unaware) so I’m going to try and guide you through some of the top beauty trends of 2016….

Makeup

Makeup this year has swung back to the 90s so this is your time to channel your inner Drew Barrymore.

It’s All About:

Natural Colours – The peaches, the pinks, the nudes.

Let us see you – Use a sheer foundation, or none at all, that just adds a healthy glow. If you have freckles don’t hide them, if anything accentuate them (people are even drawing them on). We can look up to the goddess that is 90s Kate Moss for this look.

The Glow – The biggest trend for 2016 beauty is the natural glow. The countouring and any form of deep shading is out. No more matte powder or matte foundation finishes. The more glow the better. This trend also works for any skin type: oily, dry or combination.

Get out your highlighter and go for it. BUT DON’T “STROBE”. You’re not supposed to see your cheekbones from the international space station; you just want a natural, healthy glow around the cheek bones, bridge of nose, end of nose, under and above eyebrows and chin.

The flush – Blusher is your best friend from now on. Put away your deep bronzers and whip out your peachy blusher. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks, as well as across your nose to give a bright and awakening flush.

Take the blusher on holiday – You don’t need to keep the blusher on your cheeks. A lovely trend I’ve seen a lot is the peachy tones around the eyes. Apply a pink (or any natural tone) to your eyelids and just under the lash line and blend it like your life depends on it.

The blend – No where on any catwalk have I seen harsh makeup lines (apart from the next trend) for example the harsh contour. Everything is fluffy, light and blended. The natural brows, lashes and skin is the most important trend this year.

The other direction – One statement that has cropped up within the subtleties of the 90s look is the graphic liner. A thick jet black liner that angles into the crease, adding the only definition of facial features that I have seen this year. Funnily enough, this look suits best with hardly any makeup any where else:
